Family Statement on the Suspension of Active Investigation Efforts in Angelica Brophy’s Disappearance

Angelica Brophy is a mother to two wonderful children, a wife, sister to five older brothers, a daughter, a friend to many, and an emergency room nurse. She has been missing since July 6, 2026, and more than 100 days later, our family still does not know what happened to her and where she is.
We are deeply concerned that active investigative efforts have been suspended while Angelica remains missing and her disappearance remains unexplained.
We are not asking law enforcement to endorse a theory or to disclose confidential information. We are asking for a clear account of what this suspension means, an independent assessment of the investigation including outstanding questions, and a reassessment of the search already conducted on Palomar Mountain.
We have asked Oceanside Police Department to clarify the case’s status. We have also sought assistance from the San Diego Sheriff’s Office, our congressional representative, and our state representative to determine whether an independent assessment or additional specialized support is possible.
We ask anyone who visited Palomar Mountain, traveled the surrounding roads and the roads to and from Palomar Mountain State Park, attended a gathering in the area, or encountered Angelica on July 6 or after, to review original photos, videos including dashcam footage, and other records that may contain detail that seemed unimportant at the time, to please share that with law enforcement. Please share verified, firsthand information, not theories, assumptions, or speculations.
We remain committed to finding Angelica and to ensure that reasonable avenues for answers receive careful consideration.

Angelica Brophy is an exceptional mother to 2 wonderful children, a devoted wife, hilarious sister and daughter, fantastic friend, and fiercely compassionate emergency room nurse. She is funny, a seasoned hiker and runner, world traveler, and a force to be reckoned with. She has been missing since July 6th, 2026, last known to be hiking Palomar Mountain State Park; a picturesque place she frequents to get her steps in on the trails. Her loving husband and kids need her home safe, and are desperate for life to feel normal again. Her patients need the warm and vigilant care she provides in their own most vulnerable moments and times of need. And the rest of us need her infectious smile and unmistakable laugh back in our lives. There are more memories to be made with her friends and family, and we need that support from our community more than ever. We are determined to find her and we will not stop our search. Angelica dropped her daughter off at summer camp. She arranged for the mother of her daughter’s friend to pick her daughter up at the end of the day and again for camp the following morning.

Angelica stopped at the QuickStop Smoke Shop in Temecula. She parked in front of the store and entered and exited alone. The precise time and duration of the visit remain to be confirmed.

Angelica arrived alone at Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula, a location she visited regularly. She parked front-in, entered alone, collected promotional chips as was her usual practice, and played slot machines and table games. Available observations indicate that she remained alone and had limited contact with others. She later cashed out her winnings and departed.

Surveillance footage recorded Angelica leaving Harrah’s Resort in Valley Center alone in her vehicle. She turned from Valley Center Road toward Highway 76, in the direction of Palomar Mountain. The footage did not show anyone following her to the vehicle or following her as she departed. The precise time remains to be confirmed.
OPD previously advised the family that the time of this occurrence was 3:30 PM. OPD corrected this time entry as 3:40 PM.

Angelica’s son texted his father, Brent, Angelica’s husband, and asked whether he knew where she was. Brent, who was leaving work, called Angelica but received no response. Before returning home, he drove through the parking area at Angelica’s workplace to look for her vehicle. He remained near the hospital until 7:00 pm, the scheduled start of her shift, but Angelica did not arrive.

In the afternoon, while reviewing Angelica’s previous iPhone, Brent located information indicating that her Apple Watch had last transmitted near the Doane Pond trailhead. The device display showed the location as recorded “3 days ago.”

Brent texted Ramon regarding the Apple Watch location near Doane Pond. Ramon, who was stopped at a road-construction area on Highway 76 near Palomar Mountain, turned back toward Palomar Mountain State Park. On arrival, he contacted park ranger Will and asked for directions to Doane Pond. Will accompanied Ramon to the area, where they located Angelica’s vehicle parked and backed into a space. Park rangers requested a search team.
